The NVIDIA MMA4Z00-NS400-T is a 400GbE SR8 multimode parallel optical transceiver in the OSFP form factor. It operates at 850nm over multimode fiber for reach up to 50m, with a maximum data rate of 400Gb/s. This Mellanox-branded module runs from a 3.3V supply with 15W power dissipation and is rated for 0C to 70C operation, supplied in tray packaging.
Short-reach 850nm multimode optics are the standard choice for in-row and in-rack links inside a single data hall, where the 50m reach is sufficient and multimode fiber is cheaper to terminate than single-mode. SR8 parallel modules break the 400G link into eight lanes, which also allows breakout cabling to lower-speed ports on adjacent switches. Data center and AI cluster operators deploy these on leaf switch uplinks and GPU fabric interconnects, matching the transceiver part number to both switch compatibility lists and the installed fiber type.
