The NVIDIA MCP7Y00-N003 is a 3 m passive copper splitter cable assembly that breaks one 800 Gb/s Infini Band NDR twin-port out to two 400 Gb/s ports, in an OSFP to 2x OSFP configuration. It is a direct attach copper assembly with no optical engine in the path, so it consumes no additional power and adds minimal latency between the two ends. MCP7Y00-N003 carries a maximum data rate recorded at 800 GbE across the single-connector end. The 3 m length places it in the in-rack and adjacent-rack class of interconnect.

Splitter cables exist because a switch port is often faster than the endpoint attached to it: one 800 Gb/s switch port is divided so it can serve two 400 Gb/s adapters or downstream switch ports, doubling the effective port count of the switch. The MCP7Y00-N003 is used inside Infini Band NDR fabrics for AI training clusters, HPC systems and high-performance storage networks, typically running from a top-of-rack or spine switch down to server host channel adapters. Passive copper is selected over active optical cable for these short runs because it is materially cheaper, draws no power and has no transceiver to fail.
