The SML-D12U8WT86 is a red surface-mount LED from ROHM in an 0603 imperial (1608 metric) chip package. It has a dominant wavelength of 620 nm, a 2.2 V forward voltage at 20 mA forward current, and a luminous intensity of 63 mcd measured at a 20 mA test current. The diffused lens gives a wide 160 degree viewing angle. Reverse voltage is rated at 5 V and power dissipation at 54 mW.
Red chip LEDs in 0603 serve as status, power and fault indicators on control boards, panel and keypad backlighting, and instrument illumination across consumer, industrial and automotive interior products. The diffused lens and 160 degree viewing angle are the distinguishing feature: light spreads evenly rather than forming a narrow beam, so the indicator stays visible off-axis and through a light pipe or diffuser panel. Product and enclosure designers specify the diffused variant where the LED is viewed from varying angles. The 20 mA drive point allows a simple series resistor from a 3.3 V or 5 V rail.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
