The Intel EPM240T100C5N is a MAX II family CPLD with 192 macrocells and 240 logic elements arranged in 24 logic array blocks, supplied in a 100-pin TQFP package. It provides 80 programmable I/O pins, runs from a 2.5 V core supply (2.375 V to 2.625 V), and supports a maximum operating frequency of 166.6 MHz with a 7.5 ns propagation delay. The EPM240T100C5N uses on-chip flash configuration memory, is rated for 0°C to 85°C commercial operation, and ships in trays of 90 units.

Small CPLDs absorb the board-level glue logic that would otherwise consume a dozen discrete logic packages: address decoding, power sequencing, reset and watchdog supervision, level and protocol translation, and compact state machines. Flash-based configuration means the device is running the instant power is applied, so it is commonly given the job of bringing up the rest of the board. At 192 macrocells in a 100-pin TQFP, the EPM240T100C5N is the entry point of the MAX II family and one of the most widely designed-in CPLDs in industrial, telecom, medical, and instrumentation hardware.
