The Analog Devices DS1339BU+T is a serial real-time clock with an I2C interface. A real-time clock keeps date and time running independently of the host processor, typically from a backup cell, so the system knows the correct time immediately at power-up without a network sync. The DS1339BU+T tracks time in 12- or 24-hour HH:MM:SS format and dates in YY-MM-DD with day of week. It is supplied in an 8-pin UMAX surface-mount package, is RoHS compliant and in production, and is rated from -40C to 85C.
Real-time clocks provide the timestamps behind data loggers, utility meters, access-control systems, alarm panels, industrial controllers and point-of-sale terminals - anywhere events must be recorded with an accurate wall-clock time and the system may be powered down between readings. The I2C interface needs only two host pins, and the small UMAX outline keeps the timekeeping function off the critical board area. Industrial, metering, medical and embedded computing designers are the usual specifiers, often pairing the device with a coin cell for backup.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
