The Broadcom APDS-9005-020 is an analogue-output ambient light sensor from the APDS-9005 series, supplied in a surface-mount ChipLED package. It responds with a peak wavelength of 500 nm, closely tracking the human eye response, and delivers a voltage output with up to 40 uA of output current. The device operates from a 1.8 V to 5.5 V supply (3 V nominal) across a -40 C to +85 C temperature range. It is RoHS compliant, lead free, and shipped in tape and reel of 2, 500 pieces.
The APDS-9005-020 is used for automatic display backlight control and ambient light monitoring in battery-powered and line-powered equipment. Its analogue voltage output feeds directly into an ADC input or comparator, making it suitable for designs without a dedicated digital light-sensing interface. Typical users include designers of mobile handsets, LCD and LED display modules, industrial HMI panels, and lighting control systems. The 1.8 V minimum supply and compact ChipLED footprint suit space-constrained and low-voltage boards.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
