The Vishay VCNL4040M3OE is a fully integrated proximity and ambient light sensor from the VCNL4040 series with an I2C digital interface. It combines proximity sensing up to 200 mm and ambient light measurement in a single surface-mount device operating from a 2.5 V to 3.6 V supply. The device is supplied in an 8-pin SMD package and operates over a -40 to 85 degrees C temperature range.
The VCNL4040M3OE is used to add proximity detection and ambient light sensing to consumer and portable devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and displays that adjust backlight or detect nearby objects. Its integrated design and I2C interface simplify system integration. Product and embedded designers use it for automatic display dimming and presence detection.
