The TPS54561DPRR is a Texas Instruments step-down DC/DC converter accepting a wide 4.5 V to 60 V input and delivering up to 5 A of output current, supplied in a 10-pin WSON package. Its output is adjustable from 800 mV up to 59 V and it switches at 2.5 MHz, which keeps the external inductor and capacitors small for a converter of this power level. The TPS54561DPRR includes soft-start and Eco-mode operation for light-load efficiency, and uses a non-synchronous topology requiring an external catch diode. The 4 mm x 4 mm package is lead free and RoHS compliant, and the device is rated from -40 C to +125 C.
Wide-input buck converters are specified where the supply rail is unregulated or subject to transients, such as 12 V, 24 V and 48 V industrial and vehicle systems that can swing well above nominal during load dump or brownout. The 60 V rating on the TPS54561DPRR gives headroom for those events without an external clamp stage, while 5 A covers a full intermediate rail feeding downstream point-of-load regulators. Typical designs include industrial automation and PLC power supplies, 24 V sensor and actuator hubs, telecom 48 V distribution, and 12 V/24 V vehicle and off-road equipment electronics. Its -40 C to +125 C rating supports installation in unconditioned enclosures and engine-adjacent locations.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
