The SN74LV165APWR is a Texas Instruments 8-bit parallel-load shift register that converts parallel input data to a serial output stream, supplied in a 16-pin TSSOP package. It operates across a wide 2V to 5.5V supply range with an 11.9ns propagation delay, a 28ns turn-on delay and 20uA of quiescent current, and provides complementary serial outputs. A parallel-in serial-out shift register lets a controller read many parallel inputs over just a few pins by clocking the captured data out one bit at a time. Texas Instruments lists the part at Production/Active lifecycle status, lead free and RoHS compliant, rated -40C to +125C on tape and reel.
Parallel-in serial-out shift registers are the standard way to expand digital inputs on a pin-limited microcontroller: reading banks of switches, DIP settings, keypads, front-panel buttons, limit and proximity sensors, and DIP-configured addresses. Multiple devices cascade so dozens of inputs are read through the same three-wire clock, load and data path, which is why they appear in industrial I/O modules, control panels, appliances, test fixtures, arcade and gaming hardware and automotive body electronics. The 2V to 5.5V range lets the same part interface to both 3.3V and 5V logic. Buyers are embedded and industrial hardware designers, control-panel and I/O module manufacturers, and contract manufacturers sourcing TI logic in reel volume.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
