The Texas Instruments TS3USB221DRCR is a 1:2 multiplexer and demultiplexer switch for High-Speed USB 2.0 signaling at up to 480 Mbps, with a single enable input, in a 10-pin VSON package. It provides 1.1 GHz of bandwidth and roughly 6 Ω of on-resistance across two switched channels, and runs from a 2.3 V to 3.6 V single supply at about 30 µA. The TS3USB221DRCR operates from -40°C to 85°C and ships on tape and reel.
A USB 2.0 differential mux is used when one USB controller port has to be shared between two physical connectors or two internal endpoints, or when a single connector must be steered between a host controller and a device controller. Because USB high-speed signaling is impedance sensitive, a purpose-built switch with wide bandwidth and low on-resistance is used instead of a general-purpose analog switch to keep eye diagrams and return loss within specification.
