The Texas Instruments TCA9548APWR is an 8-channel I2C/SMBus switch (multiplexer) with reset and voltage-level translation in a 24-pin TSSOP package. It lets a host expand a single I2C bus to eight downstream channels and operates from a 1.65 V to 5.5 V supply. Level translation lets the TCA9548APWR bridge mixed-voltage buses on each channel.
This I2C switch resolves address conflicts and expands bus fan-out when multiple I2C peripherals share the same address, common in servers, networking line cards, and dense sensor arrays. Its level translation bridges devices operating at different bus voltages. Embedded and board-level designers are the typical users.
