Low voltage differential signalling sends data as a small current-driven differential swing over a terminated pair, which gives high noise immunity and low emissions at a fraction of the power of single-ended CMOS signalling. LVDS receivers recover clock and data at the far end of backplanes, ribbon cables and board-to-board links in telecom line cards, industrial machine vision, medical imaging and test equipment. The 5-pin SOT-23 footprint on the SN65LVDS2DBVR lets designers place a single channel exactly where a differential pair lands, rather than routing it to a larger multi-channel device.
