The Texas Instruments TCA9535PWR is a 16-bit I2C and SMBus I/O expander with interrupt output and configuration registers, in a 24-pin TSSOP package. It provides 16 configurable I/Os, operates from 1.65V to 5.5V, and supports bus frequencies up to 400k Hz. The TCA9535PWR is rated -40C to 85C with a 100C maximum junction temperature, is lead-free and RoHS compliant, and ships on tape and reel.
An I2C I/O expander adds general-purpose pins to a microcontroller that has run out of GPIO, using only the two existing bus wires. Designers use them to drive LEDs and relays, read pushbuttons, DIP switches and card-present or lid-open detects, and to set configuration straps on daughtercards. The interrupt output means the host does not have to poll the expander, which is why this class of part is common in server management boards, industrial I/O modules, consumer appliances and instrument front panels.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
