The TCA9539QPWRQ1 is a Texas Instruments 16-bit I/O expander with an I2C and SMBus interface, supplied in a 24-pin TSSOP package. It adds 16 general-purpose I/O lines to a system over a two-wire bus running at up to 400 k Hz, which lets a designer expand port count without moving to a larger microcontroller. The TCA9539QPWRQ1 operates from a 1.65 V to 3.6 V supply and carries the Q1 automotive suffix, with a wide -40 C to +125 C operating range and a 135 C maximum junction temperature. The package measures 7.8 mm x 4.4 mm x 1.2 mm, and the part is lead free, RoHS compliant, free of REACH SVHC declarations, and shipped on tape and reel.
I/O expanders are used when a design runs out of microcontroller pins but still needs to drive indicators, read switches, control relays or sample discrete status lines. Because the TCA9539QPWRQ1 attaches over I2C, those 16 lines cost only two bus signals at the host and can be placed physically close to the loads, shortening board routing. The Q1 automotive qualification and 125 C rating point it at in-vehicle applications such as body control modules, lighting control, instrument clusters and infotainment, where extended temperature and AEC-grade sourcing are required. Typical buyers are automotive Tier 1 suppliers along with industrial and telecom designers who want the same wide-temperature part on non-automotive boards.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
