The TCA6424ARGJR is a Texas Instruments 24-bit I/O expander with an I2C and SMBus interface operating at up to 400k Hz. It provides 24 configurable I/O pins with 25mA of output drive, running from a 1.65V to 5.5V supply. The TCA6424ARGJR is supplied in a 32-pin QFN package measuring 5mm x 5mm x 0.6mm and is rated from -40C to 85C.
I/O expanders add general-purpose pins to a system over two wires when the host processor has run out of GPIO, which is a common constraint on small microcontrollers and highly integrated So Cs. Designers use them to drive LEDs and relays, read keypads and DIP switches, control resets and enables, and manage front-panel indicators. The 25mA drive on the TCA6424ARGJR is enough to sink LEDs directly, and the wide 1.65V to 5.5V range lets a single device sit between mixed-voltage sections in industrial control, networking and consumer equipment.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
