The onsemi CAT24C64YI-GT3 is a 64 kb (8K x 8) serial EEPROM with an I2C interface, supplied in an 8-pin TSSOP package. It operates from a wide 1.7 V to 5.5 V supply, supporting 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3.3 V, and 5 V systems, and runs the I2C bus at up to 400 k Hz. Access time is 400 ns and nominal supply current is 2 mA. The device is organised as 8, 192 words of 8 bits, is specified from -40 C to +85 C, and is RoHS compliant, lead free, and supplied on tape and reel.
Serial EEPROM at this density is used for non-volatile storage of calibration constants, serial numbers, board identification data, user settings, and event or fault counters. Unlike flash, EEPROM supports byte-level erase and write, which suits values updated frequently and individually. Typical users include designers of industrial sensors and instruments, medical devices, automotive modules, appliances, and pluggable modules that must report their own configuration to a host. The 1.7 V minimum supply allows shared operation on low-voltage microcontroller rails without a level shifter.
