The FM25L16B-GTR is a 16Kb serial FRAM (ferroelectric RAM) from Infineon in an 8-pin SOIC package, organised as 2kB with an 8-bit word size. It uses an SPI interface running at up to 20M Hz with a 20ns access time, and operates from a 3.3V nominal supply spanning 2.7V to 3.6V. FRAM writes at bus speed with no write delay and has effectively unlimited endurance compared with EEPROM, which is the defining advantage of the technology.
The FM25L16B-GTR is used where a system must log data continuously or capture state at the instant power is lost — something EEPROM cannot do because of its write cycle time and limited endurance. Typical applications are utility and industrial meters recording tamper and consumption events, machine controllers storing configuration and run-hour counters, medical devices logging usage, and automotive-adjacent event recorders. Designers commonly pair it with a supply-monitoring circuit so the last write completes on brownout. Buyers are typically metering, industrial and instrumentation OEMs and the contract manufacturers building data-logging equipment.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
