The Qualcomm CSR8811A08-ICXR-R is a 2.4G Hz Bluetooth 4.0 transceiver IC from the CSR series, rated at a 3Mbps data rate with a UART host interface, in a 42-ball CSP package per the product title. It is lead-free and RoHS compliant and is supplied in bulk packaging. The CSR8811A08-ICXR-R operates in the 2.4G Hz ISM band that all Bluetooth radios share.
A standalone Bluetooth transceiver with a UART host interface is designed in when a product's existing microcontroller handles the application and only needs a wireless link added. Typical uses are wireless headsets and speakers, hands-free and in-car audio, remote controls and input devices, and data links in medical, fitness and industrial handheld equipment. Designers select a discrete radio IC over a pre-certified module when volumes justify doing their own RF layout and regulatory certification.
